GREENING THE EVENT

Every effort is made to increasingly green the Power Smart Forum. Best management practices guide the planning of the Forum ensuring sound principles of environmental, social and economic sustainability are incorporated throughout the planning process.

BC Hydro is committed to

  • Reducing the consumption of resources as well as generation of wastes and pollution during the 2009 Power Smart Forum
  • Ensuring the environmental impacts associated with the services and products procured for the 2009 Power Smart Forum are minimized
  • Engaging participants at the Forum with promotions and communications that align with the event’s commitment to sustainability

What you can do

Forum attendees are encouraged to participate in a way that is as environmentally sustainable as possible. Please consider the following guidelines for reducing your environmental footprint.

While traveling to and from the Forum

  • Utilize public transit to access the venue
  • Offset the GHG emissions associated with your travel

While at the Forum

  • Reduce waste by using the recycling stations provided at the Vancouver Convention Centre
  • Bring a reusable mug, water bottle, pen or pencil
  • Encourage exhibitors to email you reports and promotional brochures
  • While visiting the Tradeshow, take only the information you require

While at the Hotel

  • Unplug all electrical appliances when you leave for the day
  • Turn down the heat dial when you leave your room
  • Reuse towels and sheets to reduce consumption of electricity, water and soap
  • Choose eco-friendly food and beverage options
