The 2008 Power Smart Forum, held November 17 to 19 in Vancouver, was an overwhelming success, with participants turning out in force. This year’s event drew over 600 customers, speakers and exhibitors over the Forum’s three days. Many were taking part for the first time, fulfilling BC Hydro’s goal of engaging as many new businesses as possible in energy conservation.
The November 17 sessions and the two days of workshops that followed were well received, with attendees expressing appreciation for the broad range of conservation topics and networking opportunities. This year’s Forum trade show was the largest yet, drawing more than 300 people to the 41 exhibits. And, first-day participants enjoyed double the inspiration of past years, with keynote speakers at both the breakfast and lunch sessions. Author and corporate sustainability expert Bob Willard, and Olympic rowing champ and clean air advocate Adam Kreek shared their distinct perspectives on energy conservation with the audience.
Response to the 2008 Forum exceeded our expectations, and signals an opportunity to expand and evolve this event as we begin planning for 2009. Stay tuned, as we build on the growing momentum in energy conservation throughout British Columbia and beyond.
