Conglom was the first manufacturer of specialized ENERGY STAR compact fluorescent lamps and light fixtures to sign up for BC Hydro’s Product Buy-Down Program in both lighting categories. And Conglom led the way by producing one of the first ENERGY STAR dual-socket GU24 flush-mount ceiling fixtures sold in B.C. Then, by developing creative stickers and signs, Conglom worked with their retail partners to successfully promote the products to thousands of consumers.Conglom ensures rigorous quality assurance through their advanced product testing facilities, where they constantly monitor and improve the quality of their products. Conglom takes care of the environment as well, by using innovative, reusable packaging on their standard compact fluorescent products sold at Costco and other fine retailers.

With fully 62 per cent of their windows ENERGY STAR® certified, Gienow Windows and Doors Inc. was named Natural Resources Canada’s 2007 ENERGY STAR Manufacturer of the Year. Gienow backs up the excellence of their products with aggressive sales contests and product rebates to push sales and get more ENERGY STAR-labelled windows into B.C. homes. As a result, in 2007 Gienow increased sales of energy-efficient windows by 35 per cent, selling hundreds of thousands of square feet of ENERGY STAR- labelled windows.

In 2007 Globe Electric designed and manufactured two new GU24 ENERGY STAR lighting products, a desk lamp and a flush-mount ceiling fixture. By working with their retail partners and participating with Power Smart in a new Product Buy-Down Program, Globe was able to lower the price of the new energy-efficient products to almost match those of incandescent fixtures. The combination of innovation, retailer support and competitive pricing meant that Globe Electric had a huge impact on the retail lighting market in B.C.
